How do I install my RV Solar Panel?
These RV solar panels are a plug and play operation. Simply place your solar panel into
the desired location, either on top of the RV or, if only used when stationary; we
recommend placing it closest to the battery compartment. If you are placing it on top of
your RV, estimate how long the distance is between your battery and the solar panels
desired location.
A 12 foot long wire is included for hookup, but if you require a longer wire you
can contact us to order one of two optional wire extensions to add on:
- 8 foot extension (gives you a total length of 20 feet) $14.95
- 16 foot extension (gives you a total length of 28 feet) $29.90
At the end of each unit, you can simply use the included battery clamps and connect
directly onto your 12v battery source. Each solar panel is equipped with a built in
blocking diode system to prevent battery discharge.
How To Size Your RV Solar Panel:
Sizing your RV solar panel can be done by follow the procedures below.
- Find out what voltage your RV battery is, typically 12v
- Determine how frequently you will be leaving the RV stationary without additional power
supply (e.g the engines alternator).
- If your RV is being used once or twice a week, the standard RV-409 will be sufficient
for keeping your battery up to charge. The RV-409 is designed for applications where the
RV may be in storage or being used on weekends.
- If you are powering devices from your battery every day, we recommend the RV-419
depending on the number of devices being powered on board.
- Larger RV's are recommended to use two RV-419 kits.
- If you are placing it on top of your RV, estimate how long the distance is between your
battery and the solar panels desired location. Select the length of your wire above.
